About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Project Engineering Manager for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is central to managing the engineering aspects of substation projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules, and leading a dedicated design team. The successful candidate will bring 5-10 years of experience to oversee project engineering from design review to site execution support.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Project Planning Manager to ensure deliveries align with the project schedule.
• Conduct regular project review meetings and internal reviews for resource optimization, allocation, and productivity enhancement.
• Review designs, calculations, and drawings, ensuring timely submissions after obtaining customer approvals.
• Clarify issues with vendors and ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.
• Address design-related issues with inter-discipline Managers and provide support to Site Execution teams for critical issues and procedural delays.
• Enable and review accurate quantity estimation for Bill of Materials submissions.
• Ensure BIM implementation across projects.
• Settle procurement issues and support Supply Chain management in finalizing orders for Vendor Engineering.
• Provide support for Bill of Quantities (BOQ), review pre-bid offers and technical submissions, and offer post-tender clarifications to the contracts team after vendor input.
• Lead and manage a team comprising Design Leads, Design Engineers, and Draughts persons.
• Review vendor evaluations against client technical specification requirements.
• Support Site Execution Teams with commercial issues and bill processing.
• Facilitate necessary communication with suppliers to ensure the issuance of Manufacturing Clearance.
• Communicate and clarify deliverable lists from the client and ascertain resource requirements for projects.

Technical Expertise and Requirements

The Project Engineering Manager must possess comprehensive expertise in both primary and secondary engineering for substation projects. A thorough understanding of design aspects for GIS / AIS Substations up to 765 KV is required, alongside proficiency in the selection of key equipment.

• Proficiency in selecting equipment such as Power Transformers, Reactors, Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors, and Instrument Transformers.
• Well-versed in Substation Primary and Secondary Design, including Earthing, Lighting, Lightning Protection, and Cabling.
• Understanding of interfaces between Civil, MEP, and Instrumentation disciplines.
• Expertise in Secondary engineering activities, including Schemes, Wiring Diagrams, SCADA, and Control Systems.
• Understanding of leading and executing projects across different geographies, clients, and utilities.
• Detailed knowledge of equipment to be installed and market conditions relevant to vendor engineering.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in project engineering management.
• Ability to multitask effectively and deliver multiple objectives on time.
• Capability to understand and interpret contractual technical requirements.
• Strong interviewing skills to support team building and development.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring on-site presence to manage and oversee project engineering activities.
