About the Role

Sulava MEA is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role focuses on building and continuously improving enterprise-grade agentic AI solutions across the Middle East and Africa. The position requires a seasoned builder with prior experience shipping production AI systems, who can thrive in a fast-paced, low-hierarchy environment. Engineers in this role collaborate directly with architects, designers, and AI strategists to transform high-value use cases into deployed solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be instrumental in setting standards for AI engineering within the team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and building production AI agents using Microsoft Foundry Agent Service, encompassing multi-agent workflows, hosted agents, memory, observability, and secure endpoints.
• Developing knowledge-grounded experiences leveraging Azure AI Search and retrieval-augmented generation, including vector, hybrid, and semantic ranking.
• Implementing deterministic, source-grounded extraction pipelines that provide auditable outputs with citations and provenance.
• Creating tool-using agents that execute secure actions via Model Context Protocol (MCP), Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and custom APIs.
• Optimizing model applications using Foundry Models and the model router, balancing quality, latency, and cost.
• Ensuring enterprise-safe systems through prompt shielding, groundedness checks, and content-safety enforcement.
• Building reusable reference agents, connectors, and evaluation templates for the UseCaseLibrary.
• Translating business opportunities into robust agent architectures and leading the design of multi-agent orchestration patterns.
• Reviewing architecture and delivery plans from other AI Engineers and serving as a technical escalation point.
• Designing and maintaining the delivery lifecycle for production agents, including evaluation, telemetry, logging, safety, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Providing technical input for presales and customer proposals.
• Mentoring other AI Engineers and supporting their professional development.

Technical Expertise and Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Significant hands-on experience building production AI agents or AI-infused applications.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python or .NET, with experience in modern cloud-integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Foundry, including projects, SDKs, models, the model router, hosted agents, and tools.
• Demonstrable experience building complete agentic workflows in Foundry Agent Service.
• Deep understanding of Azure AI Search and retrieval-augmented generation patterns.
• Practical experience implementing AI safety features.
• Experience with Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools, and secure enterprise integrations.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and enterprise governance best practices.
• Experience reviewing technical work and providing constructive feedback.
• Daily proficiency with GitHub Copilot.
• Comfort with CI/CD pipelines, telemetry, evaluation metrics, and iterative delivery.
• Familiarity with networking concepts such as VNets, subnets, private endpoints, NSGs, and firewalls for secure AI service deployment.
• Familiarity with data engineering and pre-processing techniques.
• Understanding of model capabilities, benchmarks, and limitations.
• Experience with backend and streaming services, including asynchronous APIs.
• Knowledge of distributed-systems fundamentals.
• Experience with observability and evaluation depth, including distributed tracing and logging.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are considered advantageous:

• Experience extending Microsoft 365 Copilot.
• Familiarity with Prompt Flow.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Dynamics 365, ServiceNow, or SAP integration patterns.
• Kubernetes experience.
• Prior experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience working with enterprise customers across the Middle East and Africa.

Certifications

While not required, the following certifications are considered a strong signal of current Microsoft AI engineering skills:

• AI-103: Developing AI Apps and Agents on Azure
• GH-300: GitHub Copilot Certification
