About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join their team in Riyadh. This is a full-time position focused on leading the comprehensive lifecycle management of complex database environments. The role is critical for ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and robust security across all managed systems.

Role Purpose

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire database infrastructure. This includes leading initiatives from installation and configuration to ongoing maintenance and optimization. The position requires expert knowledge in various aspects of database administration and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain critical data systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the installation, configuration, and migration of complex database environments, ensuring all systems are patched and updated to the latest stable versions.
• Architect and manage disaster recovery (DR) and high-availability (HA) solutions, such as Oracle Data Guard and SQL Always On, to ensure continuous data access.
• Proactively monitor and tune database instances, optimizing PL/SQL and T-SQL code, procedures, and triggers to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
• Define and enforce rigorous database security protocols, including encryption at rest and in transit, advanced access controls, and regular security audits.
• Design and validate comprehensive backup strategies, performing regular recovery drills to guarantee zero data loss in the event of hardware or system failure.
• Translate business requirements into efficient logical and physical database designs, ensuring data integrity and scalability.
• Forecast storage and resource requirements to ensure the infrastructure can support future data growth.
• Collaborate with developers and system administrators to troubleshoot database connectivity and integration issues, focusing specifically on database-related aspects.
• Ensure all database activities meet organizational compliance standards and provide detailed reports on database health and security posture.

Required Experience and Skills

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in database administration.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge in various database administration aspects.
• Strong collaboration skills for working effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in managing complex database environments, including high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
