Senior Roads Design Engineer

About the Role

Parsons is seeking a Senior Roads Design Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves working within a Project Management Office (PMO) on major highways and infrastructure projects within the KSA Capital. The position requires over 10 years of experience in roads design.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete in-depth reviews of road and highway drawings, specifications, and design reports at concept and detailed design stages, focusing on interfaces with structures, drainage, utilities, and traffic.
• Perform advanced highway engineering tasks, including extracting and interpreting engineering information, developing conceptual design alternatives, and preparing engineering details for highways and multilevel interchanges.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses of alternative road and interchange design options, providing justified recommendations for decision-making.
• Prepare and review pavement design calculations and road safety-related design elements, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Review third-party design submissions, supplier drawings, and technical documents, and prepare coordinated technical comments and technical bid analyses as required.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to resolve design issues, address comments, and support timely design approvals.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on complex road and interchange design matters to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Act in an advisory capacity to senior management on road and highway engineering matters, including design risks, value engineering opportunities, and constructability considerations.
• Lead and/or participate in formal Road Safety Audits at key project stages (concept, preliminary design, detailed design, and pre-opening), ensuring audit findings are documented and addressed within the design.
• Perform other associated responsibilities as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of experience in roads design.
• Demonstrated experience in major highways and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in reviewing and preparing detailed design documents, specifications, and reports.
• Strong understanding of road safety audits and pavement design calculations.

Work Environment

This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and operates within a Project Management Office (PMO) setting. The position is full-time and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and various stakeholders on large-scale infrastructure projects.
