The Role of Laboratory Chemist

Aguas de Valencia International is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join their team in Taif, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves performing a range of laboratory tests to support wastewater treatment plant operations and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. The position requires a professional who values teamwork and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform chemical, biological, microbiological, and physical laboratory tests for wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Collect samples in accordance with approved sampling procedures and techniques.
• Analyze, interpret, and accurately record laboratory test results.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive laboratory records, documentation, and reports.
• Provide accurate laboratory data and interpretation to support operational and treatment-process decisions.
• Assist with special laboratory projects and testing activities as required.
• Ensure proper use of laboratory equipment and adherence to established laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Report occupational, environmental, safety, security, or quality incidents and non-conformities, and support preventive and corrective actions.
• Comply with all applicable HSE requirements and laboratory safety procedures.
• Communicate laboratory findings clearly to supervisors and relevant team members.
• Work regular and/or shift hours according to operational requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Saudi Nationality.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline. A Master’s degree is considered an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within wastewater treatment, drinking water supply, wastewater treatment plants, or potable water treatment facilities.
• Proven experience in laboratory testing, sampling, analysis, and reporting.
• Relevant professional license or certification, where applicable.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in a sewage or wastewater treatment plant laboratory.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems and environmental/water-quality testing.
• Experience working in an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) environment and supporting plant operations.
