About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Tornado Simulator Instructor Pilot/WSO to join its team in Dhahran. This full-time position is central to providing critical training to Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Tornado pilots, Weapons System Operators (WSOs), and instructors. The role supports BAE Systems' commitment as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor, delivering essential equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia.

Role Context and Contribution

The successful candidate will contribute directly to the maintenance of RSAF aircraft and the safe training of RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the use of their aircraft, equipment, and weapons. This role aligns with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia's support for the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability through industrialisation and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ground school for all RSAF Tornado courses.
  • Deliver Continuation Training lectures and practical training based on operational requirements for aircrew.
  • Provide academic instruction covering flight planning, including normal and advanced equipment such as FDL and TAMPA.
  • Instruct on aircraft systems, subsystems, displays, and instructional methodology/technique.
  • Brief, conduct, and debrief all simulator missions.
  • Perform mission planning for all phases of flight, ensuring successful execution with desired tactics and employment options/techniques.
  • Operate associated simulators and cockpit trainers, including egress training.
  • Train selected RSAF personnel to achieve qualification as simulator instructors.
  • May be selected as a Standardisation Evaluation Flight Examiner to conduct simulator and other ground evaluations.
  • May be required to act as a subject matter expert on other associated duties.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated Tornado flight lead Pilot/Weapons System Operator experience.
  • More than 250 hours of previous instructor time in any fighter aircraft.
  • More than 1,000 hours total fighter time as a combat-ready Pilot/Weapon System Operator.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Additional professional military aviation related qualifications, including but not limited to:
    • Supervisory/authorisation experience.
    • Flight/formation lead experience.
    • Weapons instructor certification.
    • Aviation safety qualifications.
    • Human factors training.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, contributing to a vital national defense program.
