Baker Lead

About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Baker-Lead to join their team in Medina. This full-time position involves overseeing the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring adherence to quality standards and food safety protocols. The role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs, fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
• Review production sheets to determine daily baked goods requirements.
• Cook and prepare food items according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
• Maintain kitchen logs to ensure compliance with food safety programs.
• Inform the Chef about excess food items for daily special planning.
• Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
• Ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene.
• Monitor and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management.
• Oversee the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Leadership and Team Support

• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees.
• Serve as a role model and mentor within the department.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supporting team goals.
• Handle sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality.

Workplace Standards and Safety

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security guidelines.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
• Complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with others, including appropriate telephone etiquette.
• Comply with all quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Capability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
