The Role of Consultant, Family Medicine

The Consultant, Family Medicine is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as providing comprehensive medical care within the specialization. This full-time position is based in Medina and requires adherence to current medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and hospital policies and procedures. The role involves clinical, academic, research, and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and management in Family Medicine in accordance with KFSH&RC standards.
• Assume responsibility for patients, coordinating with support services and other medical specializations for timely care.
• Comply with hospital standards for patient acceptance, admission, consultation, daily care, outpatient practices, and discharge.
• Assess patient conditions to determine appropriate therapeutic modalities and initiate investigations, ensuring findings are recorded.
• Ensure proper patient preparation for procedures/surgery and perform procedures as outlined in clinical privileges.
• Follow up on outpatient investigation results and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Direct and advise junior staff on patient management and actively participate in the training and teaching of Residents, Fellows, Assistant Consultants, and junior staff.
• Stay informed of the latest techniques and developments in Family Medicine and implement them to improve technical standards.
• Participate in departmental educational activities, training programs, and national and international medical conferences.
• Engage in clinical, basic, and translational research projects in line with Research Advisory Council Policy.
• Undertake administrative duties assigned by the Head of Section or Chairman of the department.
• Participate in mandatory departmental activities and serve on departmental and hospital committees as required.
• Assist in developing and implementing practices to maximize resource utilization within the department and hospital.
• Adhere to hospital and medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies, staying updated on any changes.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
• Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of medical diseases and conditions within Family Medicine.
• Proven ability to provide high-quality medical care and manage patient cases effectively.
