Shift Charge Engineer

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Shift Charge Engineer to oversee and manage operational activities during shifts at its plant in Medina, Al Madinah Al Manwarah. This full-time role involves monitoring operational performance and providing technical support to ensure efficiency, productivity, and safety, while achieving shift production targets. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise shift team activities to ensure targets are met and business plans are delivered in line with policies and procedures.
• Monitor plant performance and provide operations engineering support for process and operational matters to ensure optimal plant operations.
• Oversee day-to-day activities of shift staff and manage plant operating activities, ensuring safe and efficient execution to meet operational targets.
• Review work instructions, SOPs, processes, and procedures, recommending changes for efficiency and resource optimization.
• Monitor operational performance, make quick decisions to correct abnormalities, and take corrective actions during emergencies.
• Coordinate with other departments for plant operations activities during the shift, ensuring timely execution.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance team during shifts for minor/major activities like commissioning and start-up, ensuring safe completion.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSSE and permit-to-work systems, instructions, controls, and procedures to guarantee employee safety and environmental compliance.
• Administer SAP processes within the operations section, ensuring adherence to guidelines for planning, scheduling, data management, and work order creation.
• Monitor adherence to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures.
• Ensure proper reporting of all accidents, incidents, or near misses occurring during the shift.
• Manage emergencies during the shift according to the company response plan until relieved.
• Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, and procedures.
• Contribute to the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programs, and projects.
• Perform any other duties as required by the line manager.

Relationship Management

The Shift Charge Engineer will develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal departments and external contractors, promptly addressing critical technical issues to ensure effective service delivery. This role also involves representing the plant in technical meetings to resolve escalated technical matters in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage operational activities and provide technical support.
• Experience with SAP administration in an operations context.
• Strong understanding of HSSE procedures and emergency response protocols.

Working Relationships

This role requires close collaboration with the Operation Manager, Shift Supervisors, CCR Operators/Engineers, Chief/Shift Chemist, Planning Engineer, Maintenance Team, HSE Engineer, Purchaser, and Storekeeper, among others.
