Technical Support Engineer (Protection Engineering)

About the Role

BYD is seeking a Technical Support Engineer (Protection Engineering) to join their team in Bishah, 'Asir. This full-time role focuses on the protection and troubleshooting of products to resolve technical issues for customers. The ideal candidate will have 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Overview

The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and minimizing downtime of energy storage systems. This involves managing protection devices, conducting fault analysis, and acting as the primary technical contact for clients regarding protection schemes. The role requires adherence to site leader work arrangements and timely resolution of on-site technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain protection devices, including IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), for BESS containers, power conversion systems (PCS), and the HV substation.
• Review and implement protection settings, logic diagrams, and coordination studies (Overcurrent, Distance, Differential, etc.).
• Lead or supervise secondary injection testing, CT/VT testing, and functional trip tests.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for any protection trips or system disturbances and provide technical reports to clients.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients regarding protection schemes, justifying settings and schemes during technical meetings.
• Address technical issues on site in a timely manner to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Responsible for the installation, commissioning, repair, and maintenance of energy storage systems on site.
• Obey the work arrangement of the site leader.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a relevant technical support or engineering role.
• Ability to protect and troubleshoot products effectively.
• Strong technical understanding of protection devices and schemes.
• Proficiency in conducting various testing and commissioning procedures.
• Excellent analytical skills for fault analysis and root-cause determination.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and technical reporting.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Bishah, 'Asir. The role involves on-site work, requiring the ability to address technical issues and manage installations and maintenance of energy storage systems directly.
