Director Clinical Governance

About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Director Clinical Governance to lead the Clinical Governance function. This full-time role, based in Makkah (Jeddah, Makkah), is central to ensuring the organization's commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. The Director will develop and implement a comprehensive clinical governance framework, fostering continuous improvement and risk management within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the vision and goals for Clinical Governance, Medical Quality, Patient Safety, Clinical Risk, and Accreditation.
• Develop and implement a strategic and operational plan for the Clinical Governance function, including budget planning.
• Establish governance policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Contribute to the development of clinical policies, ensuring they are complete, current, evidence-based, and appropriately cataloged.
• Lead audits of compliance with MOH and regulatory clinical standards and guidelines.
• Oversee the organization's Clinical Guidelines Program, ensuring development, review, implementation, and continuous improvement of evidence-based guidelines.
• Maintain quality patient care, identify patient safety issues, and implement improvements across all services.
• Lead the governance team in responding to clinical governance requests, complaints, incidents, and medico-legal issues.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and analyses of clinical practices and operational procedures.
• Develop and maintain systems for incident reporting and the capture of learning outcomes.
• Analyze clinical data to identify performance trends and areas for improvement, designing and leading initiatives to enhance patient safety.
• Foster effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies.
• Set and approve performance goals for team members, managing annual performance evaluations and identifying training needs.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated experience in leading clinical governance functions and developing comprehensive frameworks.
• Proven ability to ensure compliance with healthcare authorities and accreditation bodies (*, CBAHI, JCI).
• Experience in clinical risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and incident investigations.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong leadership capabilities to guide and develop a clinical governance team.
• Excellent analytical skills for qualitative and quantitative data related to governance and clinical audits.
• Ability to conduct workshops and training sessions on compliance requirements.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in developing corrective action plans and monitoring their implementation.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in the Makkah region, specifically covering Jeddah and Makkah. The role involves collaboration with various internal departments and external regulatory bodies.
