About the Role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Quality Leader to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is based within the Minerals Laboratory in South Jeddah and reports directly to the Laboratory Manager. The Quality Leader is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the laboratory's Quality Management System, ensuring the highest standards of data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.

Quality Management and Assurance

The Quality Leader will drive the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS). Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the QMS in alignment with ISO/IEC 17025 and other applicable standards.
• Overseeing quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
• Ensuring consistent application of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality protocols across all laboratory activities.
• Fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the laboratory.
• Maintaining all relevant and required documentation, ensuring it is up to date and properly filed or stored.

Performance Monitoring and System Optimization

This role involves optimizing laboratory systems and rigorously monitoring quality performance:

• Driving continuous improvement and effective utilization of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for data reliability and traceability.
• Ensuring proper data entry, validation, and control within LIMS in line with QA/QC requirements.
• Overseeing internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of non-conformances and preventive actions, and monitoring their effectiveness.
• Monitoring laboratory quality performance through QC data (CRMs, BLKs, replicates) and PT/RR data to identify trends, deviations, and potential risks.
• Analyzing quality data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to management.
• Ensuring timely escalation and resolution of quality issues affecting result accuracy or turnaround time.

Technical Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

The Quality Leader provides technical guidance and fosters collaboration across the laboratory and with external parties:

• Overseeing testing and analytical activities to ensure adherence to approved methods and quality standards.
• Ensuring appropriate validation and review of analytical data before release.
• Supporting troubleshooting of technical issues affecting data quality and reliability.
• Proactively identifying risks in laboratory processes and implementing preventive and corrective actions.
• Identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Providing technical guidance and QA/QC support to laboratory supervisors and staff, promoting best practices.
• Acting as a key point of contact for quality-related matters between laboratory operations and management.
• Serving as the primary liaison with accreditation bodies, regulatory agencies, and key clients on quality matters.
• Ensuring laboratory operations meet production targets while maintaining the highest quality and compliance standards.
• Identifying personnel training needs and ensuring improved technical competency through hands-on training.

Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (QHSSE)

The Quality Leader is responsible for upholding QHSSE standards within the team and laboratory operations:

• Implementing Bureau Veritas safety programs and complying with all applicable legal requirements, BV HSE Policies, procedures, and practices.
• Maintaining personal work areas tidy and hazard-free, reporting any deviations, faults, or hazards immediately.
• Reporting newly identified hazards and participating in devising suitable operational controls.
• Reporting all HSE incidents immediately and cooperating in investigations, taking action on unsafe acts or conditions.
• Taking personal responsibility for health and safety and that of others affected by work activities.
• Cooperating with others on health and safety matters and not interfering with or misusing safety provisions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in quality management within a laboratory setting, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in quality leadership or a similar role within a laboratory environment.
• Proven expertise in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems, particularly ISO/IEC 17025.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles, data integrity, and compliance.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and their optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audits, manage non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, management, accreditation bodies, and clients.
• Commitment to QHSSE principles and practices.
