Chief Engineer

About the Role

Hilton is seeking a Chief Engineer to join its team in Makkah. This full-time position is central to maintaining the physical infrastructure and operational systems of the hotel, ensuring a safe and functional environment for guests and staff. The role involves overseeing all aspects of engineering and maintenance, contributing to the overall guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure safety and compliance by overseeing the maintenance of the physical building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life safety systems, coordinating inspections, and upholding regulatory standards.
• Manage daily maintenance operations, prioritize tasks, and verify completion through the property maintenance management system, ensuring timely resolution of service requests and emergencies.
• Support property improvement projects, assisting with capital projects and rehabilitations, including scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Lead energy efficiency initiatives by developing and overseeing property-wide energy conservation programs to reduce utility costs.
• Drive engineering performance by monitoring departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as equipment upkeep, audit results, and team productivity, and implementing improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with the broader hotel leadership team on operational leadership, including evacuation procedures, duty manager coverage, and other safety protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience in team recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Proficiency in overseeing maintenance of complex building systems, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life safety.
• Ability to manage projects, budgets, and contractor relationships.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with national and local regulations.

Work Environment

This role is based in Makkah and operates within a full-time capacity. The Chief Engineer will work collaboratively with various hotel departments and leadership to ensure seamless operations and high standards of guest satisfaction.
