The Role: Design Engineer – Roads & Civil Infrastructure

SYSTRA is seeking a Design Engineer – Roads & Civil Infrastructure to join its team in Makkah. This full-time role involves supporting the planning and design of infrastructure and roadworks projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, practical design experience, and a solid understanding of local and regional standards within KSA/GCC.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop design drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications for civil infrastructure and road projects.
• Support the planning and design of roads, grading, utilities, drainage, and related infrastructure elements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design integration and compliance with project requirements.
• Review project requirements, design criteria, standards, and authority regulations applicable in KSA and the GCC.
• Conduct technical assessments and contribute to value engineering and design optimization efforts.
• Ensure designs meet quality standards, safety requirements, and project timelines.
• Participate in internal design reviews and coordinate with clients, consultants, and relevant authorities as needed.
• Support the preparation of tender and construction documentation.
• Contribute to resolving design issues and responding to technical queries during project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in the design of civil infrastructure and roads projects.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia is preferred.
• Proficiency in Arabic is required.
• Good knowledge of relevant design standards, authority requirements, and engineering best practices in the region.
• Experience in engineering modeling software is required.
• Familiarity with civil design and drafting tools relevant to infrastructure and roads projects.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary projects in consultancy or engineering environments.
