About the Commercial Manager Role
PaxOcean is seeking a Commercial Manager to support its commercial operations in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position will focus on the ship repair, conversion, and marine and offshore structural blocks fabrication segments. The role requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in commercial operations within the maritime industry, with a strong understanding of the Saudi Arabian market.
Role Overview and Strategic Development
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for developing and improving commercial strategies aligned with the trends in the Middle East marine and offshore project market, with a specific focus on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This includes executing strategies to achieve revenue and margin targets for ship repairs, conversions, and fabrications within the Kingdom.
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
Key responsibilities include establishing a new client pool and managing the vendor registration process for all Marine and Offshore customers operating in KSA. The role involves following up with new clients to promote Supply Base capabilities and service support to generate new revenue streams. Additionally, the Commercial Manager will handle client management for PaxOcean, including the submission of work done reports.
Commercial Operations and Contract Negotiation
This position entails managing customer inquiries, preparing competitive quotations and tariffs, and following up on tenders with customers and agents. The Commercial Manager will be involved in negotiating contracts and projects. Responsibilities also include carrying out estimating and commercial invoicing within KSA. Collaboration with the PaxOcean Saudi Operations team is required to maintain optimal inventory levels for materials and consumables.
Risk Management and Stakeholder Adherence
The role requires ensuring internal stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations, and identifying processes that may violate regulations. The Commercial Manager must be able to assess risks and provide recommendations for mitigation. Support will be provided in managing change, including the negotiation and settlement of Change/Variation Orders with clients. Reviewing existing company procedures and policies on commercial management and providing feedback for refinement is also a key aspect of this role.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of relevant commercial experience within a shipyard environment. A strong grasp of the Saudi Maritime Business is essential, with a Middle East centric background being preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel/Word) and SAP Project Management is required. Experience with Salesforce is considered an advantage. The role also demands team management experience, good leadership skills, and strong client management and customer service abilities.
