About Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and the Role

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is seeking a dedicated Instrumentation Technician Energy to join their team in Al Jubail, Eastern region. This full-time role is critical for ensuring the reliable operation of essential plant infrastructure through expert maintenance and troubleshooting of field instrumentation.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, re-commission, and efficiently maintain field instrumentation across gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, and desalination plants, including their associated auxiliaries. This work directly contributes to ensuring efficient plant operation and minimizing equipment availability downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to field instrumentation breakdowns and execute planned maintenance work within Power and Desalination plants with minimal supervision.
  • Technically assess job requirements and select appropriate tools and equipment for completion.
  • Order necessary spare parts from the warehouse using the computerized maintenance system and maintain accurate records of all completed maintenance work.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with established safety procedures and plant operational requirements.
  • Report recurring breakdowns and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify and implement optimal solutions.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new craftsmen, equipping them with the skills required for planned maintenance and repair tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications: Higher secondary education or a diploma.
  • Minimum Experience:
    • Familiarity with all maintenance tools and a strong understanding of Plant Safety protocols.
    • Previous experience working in a power or desalination plant environment.
    • Preferably, exposure to the maintenance and calibration of various field instrumentation, including:
      • Pressure, temperature, level, and flow measuring devices.
      • Pneumatic and hydraulic valve actuation systems.
      • CO2 Fire Protection systems.
      • Infrared Gas Detection systems.

Required Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in electrical, electronics, computer, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices.

Work Environment and Conditions

This role operates under significant time and technical pressure, where errors could lead to substantial costs due to delays, equipment damage, or personnel injury. The technician may be assigned to shift duty and must be available for call-outs at any time by the shift operation manager to address breakdown work. Continuous learning is essential to stay updated with new technologies and control concepts. The position requires working in challenging conditions, including very hot and dirty environments, and on high-level platforms.
