About the Role: Instrumentation Technician Maintenance

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is seeking a dedicated Instrumentation Technician Maintenance to join its team in Al Jubail, Eastern region. This full-time role is essential for ensuring the reliable operation of critical plant infrastructure through expert maintenance of field instrumentation. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and re-commissioning various systems to minimize downtime and support efficient plant operations.

Role Purpose and Scope

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the field instrumentation across gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, and the desalination plant, including all associated auxiliaries. This involves a proactive approach to maintenance and a swift response to breakdowns, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and reliably. The role directly contributes to reducing equipment unavailability and maintaining continuous plant functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns and execute planned maintenance work on field instrumentation within the Power and Desalination plants with minimal supervision.
• Technically assess job requirements and select the appropriate tools and equipment for effective completion.
• Utilize the computerized maintenance system to order necessary spare parts from the warehouse and maintain accurate records of all completed maintenance tasks.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere strictly to established safety procedures and plant operational requirements.
• Report recurring breakdowns and actively participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify and implement optimal solutions.
• Provide on-the-job training to new craftsmen, equipping them with the skills required to perform planned maintenance and repair work.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Qualifications: Higher secondary education or a diploma.
• Experience:
  • Familiarity with all maintenance tools and a strong understanding of Plant Safety protocols.
  • Proven experience working in a power or desalination plant environment.
  • Demonstrated exposure to the maintenance and calibration of various field instrumentation, including:
    • Pressure, temperature, level, and flow measuring devices.
    • Pneumatic and Hydraulic valve actuation systems.
    • CO2 Fire Protection systems.
    • Infrared Gas Detection systems.
• Abilities:
  • Ability to perform effectively under time and technical pressure, recognizing the significant cost implications of errors (delay, equipment damage, personnel injury).
  • Readiness to be assigned to shift duties and respond to call-outs at any time for breakdown work as directed by the shift operation manager.
  • Commitment to staying current with new technologies and control concepts relevant to the field.
  • Capability to work in challenging environments, including very hot and dirty conditions, and on high-level platforms.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Solid knowledge and practical experience in the fields of electrical, electronics, computer, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices.
