About the Role
Kempinski Hotel is seeking a Captain to join their team. This full-time position involves overseeing service standards and guest satisfaction within a Lebanese restaurant setting. The role requires a professional who can lead by example and ensure a high level of service delivery.
Core Responsibilities
The Captain is responsible for serving food and beverages to guests, providing courteous, professional, and efficient service consistent with hotel standards. This role directly supervises Waiters/Waitresses and Hosts/Hostesses, reporting to the Restaurant Supervisor, Assistant Restaurant Manager, or Restaurant Manager. Key duties include maintaining impeccable personal appearance and hygiene, adhering to hotel dress codes, and ensuring all tasks are performed according to outlet requirements.
Guest Service and Product Knowledge
A thorough understanding of all hotel services and products is essential. The Captain must possess in-depth knowledge of all food and beverage items offered by the assigned department, including the ability to explain and upsell items, as well as offer suitable alternatives. Handling guest inquiries courteously and efficiently, and promptly reporting guest complaints and feedback to supervisors for follow-up are critical aspects of this role.
Operational Management and Team Leadership
This position involves monitoring operating supplies, reducing spoilage and wastage, and ensuring the work area is kept clean and organized. The Captain will perform opening and closing procedures for the assigned outlet and operate the existing POS system as trained. A key leadership responsibility is to lead the service, act as a role model, and ensure flawless service to the highest standards. The Captain must fully understand the restaurant's concept and act as a guardian of service, food, and beverage quality, guiding the team effectively. This includes fostering strong team communication and conducting team meetings in the absence of the Restaurant Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should have 2-5 years of relevant experience. A comprehensive understanding of the hotel's policy manual, including fire, hygiene, health, and safety regulations, is mandatory. The ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues and attend all scheduled staff meetings and departmental trainings is expected. The role requires projecting a positive and motivated attitude at all times.
Additional Duties
The Captain will assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment. They must be able to control service with a keen sense of supervision, not focusing on one area exclusively. The role also involves responding to changes dictated by hotel management and undertaking any other reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned. A complete understanding of the department's monthly profit and loss statement is also required.
