About the Opportunity

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated Assistant Consultant, Pediatric Critical Care. This full-time role involves providing comprehensive medical care within the Pediatric Critical Care unit and supervising medical trainees. The successful candidate will operate in strict adherence to the Hospital’s medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and established policies and procedures.

Core Clinical Duties

The Assistant Consultant will perform a range of clinical duties essential to patient care in Pediatric Critical Care, including:

  • Assisting the Consultant in patient care and management within the Pediatric Critical Care field, ensuring adherence to the Hospital's medical care standards.
  • Delivering high-quality patient care across all aspects of Pediatric Critical Care, consistent with approved clinical privileges.
  • Providing timely inpatient and emergency room consultations upon request, within prescribed timeframes as outlined by Hospital policy.
  • Ensuring the timely completion, accuracy, and legibility of all medical records.
  • Participating in on-call services, maintaining availability and response times in accordance with Hospital policy.
  • Conducting daily morning rounds to identify patients ready for discharge and ensuring discharge orders are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
  • Performing additional clinical responsibilities related to the specialty as assigned.

Training and Professional Engagement

Beyond direct patient care, this role involves significant contributions to medical education and continuous professional development:

  • Providing orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned.
  • Actively participating in the department’s educational activities and training programs.
  • Engaging in national and international medical conferences to stay abreast of advancements.
  • Maintaining and enhancing professional knowledge through continuing education requirements.

Required Qualifications

Candidates for this position must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Graduation from a medical school in good standing.
  • Completion of the required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty.
  • Possession of Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of training in a specialty or subspecialty, coupled with relevant post-training experience.
