About the Assistant Restaurant Manager Role

Courtyard by Marriott in Riyadh is seeking a full-time Assistant Restaurant Manager to oversee restaurant and bar operations, as well as room service if applicable. This role involves supporting the daily supervision of restaurant activities, contributing to menu planning, maintaining sanitation standards, and assisting floor staff during peak service periods. The position requires a commitment to continuously improving both guest and employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of daily shift operations and restaurant areas in the absence of senior management.
• Handle employee inquiries and concerns, monitoring performance to ensure expectations are met and providing constructive feedback.
• Ensure all staff have the necessary supplies, equipment, and appropriate uniforms.
• Communicate any food quality or service level issues to the Chef and Restaurant Manager.
• Ensure adherence to all restaurant policies, standards, and procedures, including compliance with local alcohol service laws.
• Manage operations to achieve or exceed budgeted financial goals.
• Perform duties of restaurant employees and related departments as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Open and close restaurant shifts as required.
• Engage with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service, and address guest problems and complaints, seeking assistance when necessary.
• Supervise staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives.
• Encourage employees to deliver excellent customer service within established guidelines.
• Contribute to ongoing training initiatives and utilize available on-the-job training tools for employees.
• Communicate performance expectations clearly and provide ongoing coaching and counseling to employees.
• Assist servers and hosts on the floor during busy meal periods and high-demand times.
• Recognize and acknowledge good quality products and presentations.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience. Specific educational pathways include:

• A high school diploma or GED, combined with 4 years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or a related professional area.
• A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, coupled with 2 years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or a related professional area.

Core Competencies

This role requires strong analytical skills to evaluate information and solve problems effectively. The ability to communicate clearly and consistently, both in written and verbal forms, is essential for interacting with supervisors, colleagues, and subordinates. A proactive approach to improving service performance and setting a positive example for guest relations is also expected.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh. The role involves direct interaction with guests and staff within a dynamic restaurant setting, requiring flexibility to manage operations during various shifts.
