Automation & Observability Engineer

About the Role

HCLTech is seeking an Automation & Observability Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on managing disaster recovery and automation for banking applications, leveraging expertise in Ansible Automation Platform and Orchestrator. The engineer will be responsible for automating consistency checks, developing job templates for test cases, and validating disaster recovery scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Ansible Automation Platform playbooks, roles, and collections for Windows, AIX, RHEL, Databases (MSSQL, Oracle, DB2, Terradata), and Middleware (WAS, MQ).
• Utilize Jinja2 templating and Ansible Vault, managing secrets and integrations with systems such as Git, Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Undertake orchestration tasks and bug fixing.
• Develop dashboards using tools like ELK and Grafana.

Scripting and Tool Development

• Develop utilities in Python, including CLI tools, API clients, and data parsers.
• Create shell scripts (Bash/ksh) and PowerShell scripts for Windows automation.
• Implement robust logging, error handling, and unit tests for scripts, ensuring reusability through packaging (venv, pip, modules).

System Integrations

• Integrate monitoring and automation solutions with ITSM platforms, such as ServiceNow, to support incident, change, and problem workflows.
• Develop REST API integrations and webhooks, including Ansible Tower callbacks, Kibana alert webhooks, GTM, Infoblox, and F5.
• Collaborate with security teams on SIEM feeds, audit requirements, and regulatory retention policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
• Demonstrated expertise in Ansible Automation Platform and Orchestrator.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash/ksh, and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with database and middleware technologies.
