About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant - Internal Medicine & Nephrology for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves providing comprehensive medical care to adult patients through both physical and virtual consultations within Bupa CareConnect and ICC, with a specialized focus on nephrology.

Core Responsibilities

The Consultant will conduct thorough telehealth and in-person consultations, covering the full spectrum of internal medicine and general medicine complaints. This includes performing detailed clinical assessments, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic internal medicine conditions, and specializing in nephrology presentations such as CKD, AKI, glomerulonephritis, and electrolyte disorders. The role requires interpreting diagnostic investigations, developing evidence-based treatment plans, and ensuring accurate EMR documentation. Complex cases will be escalated to tertiary services or inpatient management as needed.

Clinical Leadership and Service Development

This position involves providing clinical leadership and professional guidance within the Internal Medicine and Nephrology service lines. Responsibilities include contributing to the development and implementation of clinical pathways, protocols, and SOPs for both virtual and physical care settings. The consultant will support operational planning, participate in strategic initiatives to enhance integrated care, and assist in evaluating and optimizing telemedicine workflows and chronic disease management pathways. Mentoring junior physicians, supporting clinical governance, and contributing to departmental strategic initiatives are also key aspects of this role.

Patient Care and Collaboration

The role requires ensuring compliance with clinical governance and patient safety standards across all care settings. Accurate and timely EMR documentation, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and reporting of clinical incidents are essential. Collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including primary care physicians, specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals, is crucial for seamless care coordination. The consultant will also educate patients and families on diagnoses and chronic disease management, address patient concerns with compassion, and promote a culture of patient safety and empathy.

Professional Development and Technical Proficiency

Continuous enhancement of professional knowledge and clinical skills in internal medicine and nephrology through CME activities is expected. Staying updated on advancements in the field, telehealth technology, and value-based care is important. The role requires maintaining proficiency in utilizing the designated telehealth platform, including troubleshooting technical issues and collaborating with IT support. Accurate and complete patient record maintenance in accordance with applicable regulations is mandatory.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Board certification (Saudi Board or internationally recognized equivalent) in Nephrology or Internal Medicine with Nephrology subspecialty.
  • Active SCFHS classification and registration at Consultant level.
  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid medical license.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
  • Ability to use EHRs and computers.
