About the Role

Alfanar is seeking an International Tax Section Manager to lead and manage all aspects of its overseas tax operations. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this full-time role involves planning, developing, executing, and monitoring international tax activities and related systems with optimal resources and efficient cost. The Manager will ensure delivery aligns with company quality standards and will proactively manage risks and opportunities to advance the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall management of overseas tax activities, ensuring compliance with domestic and international tax laws, including corporate tax, VAT, and withholding tax.
  • Prepare and review tax returns, manage tax filings, and ensure timely tax payments and reporting for subsidiaries across various jurisdictions.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize the group’s tax position, encompassing transfer pricing, tax credits, and incentives, in collaboration with finance teams.
  • Manage transfer pricing regulations, documentation, and compliance, working with external advisors on intercompany pricing strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate potential tax risks, support internal and external audits, and respond to inquiries from tax authorities to ensure audit readiness.
  • Handle cross-border tax issues, double taxation treaties, and compliance in multi-jurisdictional environments, managing tax obligations in countries where subsidiaries operate.

Managerial Accountabilities

  • Recruit, cultivate, and develop high-performing team members, while guiding or managing the improvement of low performers, ensuring fair and performance-based assessment.
  • Take full responsibility for operations, anticipate problems, implement proactive solutions, and make timely decisions aligned with company guidelines.
  • Ensure timely delivery of results with required quality and cost efficiency, aiming to exceed business expectations.
  • Translate corporate goals into actionable business plans, monitor performance, initiate corrective actions, and provide periodic progress reports.
  • Develop and optimize the organizational structure, ensure job descriptions are current, and promote continuous business process improvements through automation and IT solutions.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment in accordance with standard regulations.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical abilities to review tax data, identify discrepancies, ensure accurate reporting, and provide thorough analysis of tax implications.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with internal stakeholders (finance, legal) and external advisors (tax consultants, auditors), clearly conveying complex tax matters.
  • Familiarity with tax compliance software, automation tools, and ERP systems to enhance efficient tax reporting and filing, staying updated on emerging tax technology trends.
  • A commitment to quality as a prime competitive advantage and adaptability to new techniques, technologies, management structures, and business models.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in international tax management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of domestic and international tax laws, including corporate tax, VAT, and withholding tax, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations to diverse business scenarios.
  • Proven expertise in tax compliance, reporting, planning, optimization, and transfer pricing management.
