Role Summary

The Laboratory Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of laboratory tests and specimens. This position involves conducting chemical analyses, maintaining laboratory standards, and contributing to the overall quality and operational effectiveness of the laboratory services at My Clinic KSA. The specialist is expected to adhere strictly to clinical policies and contribute to a cooperative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process all laboratory test requisitions and specimens efficiently, ensuring proper handling, labeling, volume, and identification according to established policies.
• Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using laboratory analyzers.
• Perform daily monitoring of the unit’s worklist and maintain organized and complete unit files.
• Check test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytical performance are maintained.
• Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
• Organize work for effective time utilization, prioritizing tasks including STATs, out-patient, and time draws.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment, utilizing them in a non-wasteful manner.
• Communicate all related laboratory inquiries using official methods, such as emails.
• Participate in monthly Quality Management (QM) meetings, presenting activities and metric outcomes to review compliance and develop improvement plans.
• Adhere to clinical policies regarding standard precautions and laboratory policies and accreditation standards.
• Assist other laboratory personnel as workload permits and accept responsibility for working different shifts when conditions warrant.
• Report to the Chief Laboratory Supervisor or designee for assistance with technical or personnel problems.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Lab Director or Lab Supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of four years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying as a Medical Technologist.
• A minimum of two years of senior technologist experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Possession of a valid Saudi Commission for Healthcare Specialties license as a Medical Technologist.

• Maintain a professional appearance, observing the established dress code, including wearing a lab coat and name tag.
• Demonstrate loyalty and teamwork within the laboratory and interdepartmentally, fostering cooperative working relationships.
• Adhere to hospital codes regarding speech and conversation quality, particularly confidentiality.
• Show ability to handle unexpected situations and exercise independent thought and actions when necessary.
• Commit to continuous education in quality, safety, and infection control.
