The Recon Analyst Role

This full-time position is central to ensuring financial data integrity through meticulous reconciliation processes. The Recon Analyst will be responsible for performing in-depth analysis of financial transactions, identifying and resolving complex exceptions, and contributing to process improvements. The role requires 5-10 years of experience in financial reconciliation within a banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations accurately and on schedule.
• Perform in-depth analysis of reconciliations, identifying and deciphering complex exceptions between systems for various accounts.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for existing exceptions and lead efforts to resolve them effectively.
• Analyze trends, accurately enter exception data, and ensure proper aging of outstanding items.
• Communicate complex break reports to internal groups or external correspondents and monitor their resolution.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly status reports.
• Assist in analyzing operational needs and provide valuable inputs to address identified requirements.
• Execute tasks efficiently and quickly, maintaining strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiencies.
• Interact with bank-wide vendors and stakeholders to facilitate the resolution of breaks.

Required Experience and Knowledge

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant financial or reconciliation role.
• Demonstrated experience with banking products, including Retail, Personal, and Wealth, along with their associated regulations, processes, and procedures.
• Proven experience in General Ledger (GL) reconciliations across various areas such as Branch, ATM, Cards, Deposits, Loans, Cash, Bank, Vault, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), Clearing, Settlement, Suspense accounts, and Payments.
• Experience in system-to-system (intersystem) reconciliation, specifically GL versus Sub-Ledger (SL).
• Understanding of Intercompany, Intergroup, and Interbranch reconciliations.
• Solid accounting knowledge, including the ability to record journal entries and comprehend financial impacts.

Essential Skills and Tools

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with GL reconciliation applications is considered a plus.
