About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a Risk Team Leader Engineer to oversee the risk management framework for construction projects. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and requires over 10 years of experience. The primary objective is to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential threats to project timelines and budgets, while also optimizing opportunities for successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The Risk Team Leader Engineer will be responsible for a range of critical risk management activities, including:

  • Developing and implementing the Project Risk Management Plan in accordance with local regulations and standardization.
  • Defining risk thresholds, categories (RBS), and scoring matrices specific to construction projects.
  • Facilitating regular risk identification sessions with key stakeholders from Construction, Procurement, and Engineering departments.
  • Conducting Qualitative Risk Analysis to prioritize risks based on probability and impact.
  • Performing Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) to assess the impact of risks on project completion dates and total costs.
  • Collaborating with the Planning team for Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA), integrating risks into Primavera (P6) schedules to determine the "Confidence Level" of finish dates.
  • Working with the Cost Control team for Cost Risk Analysis (CRA) to assess contingency requirements and manage the risk-adjusted budget.
  • Developing proactive risk response plans (Avoid, Transfer, Mitigate, Accept).
  • Maintaining and updating the Project Risk Register monthly, ensuring all risks have assigned owners and active action plans.
  • Monitoring for potential risks and alerting management before they escalate into issues.
  • Preparing comprehensive Risk Assessment Reports and Dashboards for executive management.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of risk engineers/coordinators to ensure consistency in risk data collection and analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction, with at least 4-5 years specifically focused on Project Risk Management.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in using software such as Primavera P6 (Professional), Primavera Risk Analysis (formerly Pertmaster), or Safran Risk, and Power BI for risk visualization and dashboards.

Preferred Certifications and Skills

The following certifications and skills are highly desirable:

  • PMI-RMP (Risk Management Professional) certification is highly preferred.
  • CCP or PMP certifications are considered a plus.
  • A strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex data effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A deep understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and its relationship to risk.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh. The role involves leading a team and collaborating across various project departments to ensure comprehensive risk management.
