About the Opportunity

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture is seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to join its Project and Construction Management team. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on mega civil projects within the Infrastructure Division.

Role Context

The successful candidate will apply specialized expertise to Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, specifically those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. The role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust risk management framework throughout the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential risks during the construction process.
• Provide direction and specialized assistance for identifying project risks, quantification, levels of risks, and mitigation measures.
• Work closely with project managers to recognize opportunities and mitigations to minimize risk exposure.
• Assess the risks associated with design and construction stage changes and schedule slippages.
• Establish and oversee the project risk register to meet specific project requirements.
• Develop and deliver monthly risk reports to the client according to the PCM contract.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to evaluate the efficiency of risk mitigation measures and compliance with relevant standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand their expectations and ensure that risk management initiatives meet them.
• Undertake day-to-day risk management activities including identification, prioritization, register management, action planning, and monitoring.
• Act as a liaison between the consultant project team and the client, handling all risk management matters and understanding client requirements.
• Manage client expectations related to risk management and ensure satisfaction.
• Facilitate and chair risk workshops with the Client, Consultant, and Contractors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or a related field. A specific risk management qualification is preferred.
• Over 15 years of experience in risk management, particularly in mega construction projects and/or Road and Highways projects, primarily as a Consultant.
• Experience in at least one or more road projects.
• Knowledge of the Middle East design and construction market, including conditions of contract and contractual issues.
• Understanding of construction, design, and engineering principles.

Required Skills and Additional Requirements

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with specific risk management software for recording and reporting risks.
• Proficiency in English language is required; Arabic language is a plus.
• Excellent communication, report writing, social, and teamwork skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
• Willingness to work in a multinational environment.
• For non-Saudi candidates, a transferable Iqama is required.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership.
