Safety Officer

About the Role

DAC - Distinct Architect Contracting is seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Officer to join our team for a full-time commercial project in Al Khobar, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role requires 5-10 years of experience and is open to candidates currently in Saudi Arabia with transferable Iqama who can join immediately or on short notice.

Project Context

The project involves multiple buildings, MEP works, infrastructure coordination, landscape/external works, and construction activities within an active island environment. This setting necessitates strict safety, coordination, and site control measures. The contract mandates the provision of qualified resources for health, safety, and environmental procedures, ensuring compliance with occupational safety requirements, environmental protection, OSHA requirements, daily waste removal, and site risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Implementing and overseeing health, safety, and environmental procedures on-site.
• Conducting accident investigations, incident reporting, and root cause analysis.
• Coordinating security measures related to site access, equipment protection, and emergency response.
• Developing and delivering safety training, including toolbox talks and safety inductions.
• Ensuring compliance with occupational safety requirements, environmental protection, and OSHA standards.
• Managing daily waste removal and conducting site risk assessments.
• Handling subcontractors and site teams professionally regarding safety protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of previous experience with contractors is required.
• Experience in building, infrastructure, mixed-use, hospitality, and commercial projects is preferred.
• Relevant certification or diploma in occupational health and safety or a related field.
• NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA certification is required.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Occupational Health practices applicable to construction environments.
• Good knowledge of construction safety requirements, risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work systems, and site inspections.
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and local KSA safety regulations and construction industry standards.
• Effective communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills for working with diverse site teams.
• Proven ability to work on-site, handle multiple tasks, and maintain a proactive, detail-oriented approach to risk management.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Good command of English.
