About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital in Riyadh is seeking a Social Services Specialist III to provide essential social work services. This full-time role focuses on assisting patients and their families in resolving challenges related to their medical conditions and circumstances, ensuring comprehensive support throughout their treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly visit wards and units to establish professional relationships with medical and nursing staff, ensuring awareness of patients' social circumstances.
  • Interview patients, family members, and friends to gather background knowledge and assess social needs.
  • Develop and implement management plans to mitigate adverse effects on patients, utilizing available resources effectively.
  • Educate patients and families on understanding and adhering to medical and social management plans.
  • Provide training and share knowledge with other staff and students.
  • Refer patients to social welfare agencies after case review.
  • Assist in resolving patient problems that hinder treatment, including providing financial, social, and psychological support.
  • Refer patients to the Ministry of Social Development for disability benefits (*, car parking cards, airfare discount cards), financial aid, and rehabilitation equipment.
  • Prepare necessary reports and statistics, supported by feedback, and submit them to the Social Work Supervisor.
  • Provide home on-call services for emergency cases such as abuse, neglect, suicidal attempts, and social/family issues.
  • Assess the psychosocial needs of patients and their families in clinics, considering socioeconomic status, mental health, family dynamics, and support systems.
  • Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and families coping with illness, trauma, or loss.
  • Promote a Patient-Centered Care culture by respecting patients and their families.
  • Participate in and support quality improvement and patient safety activities individually or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess 0-1 year of relevant experience.
