The Role of Sous Chef, Italian Cuisine

We are seeking a dedicated Sous Chef – Italian Cuisine to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time, on-site position where the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef and overseeing daily kitchen operations, with a primary focus on delivering authentic Italian dishes. The role requires 5-10 years of demonstrated experience in a similar capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring a consistent focus on authentic Italian dishes.
• Ensure precise menu execution, adherence to plating standards, and rigorous quality control.
• Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support.
• Coordinate food preparation and cooking schedules efficiently.
• Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning across all dishes.
• Manage inventory, including ordering and stock rotation.
• Monitor and enforce food safety and hygiene practices according to established regulations.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development and daily specials.
• Train and mentor team members to enhance their culinary skills and operational efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
• Assist with cost control measures and supplier coordination as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience of 5-10 years as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within an Italian restaurant setting.
• Strong knowledge of both classic and contemporary Italian cuisine.
• Proficiency in all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, various cooking techniques, plating, and portion control, with a commitment to quality and consistency.
• Comprehensive understanding of food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and best practices for kitchen cleanliness and safe ingredient storage.

Required Skills and Attributes

• Ability to effectively lead and train kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and foster a respectful, collaborative team environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple orders and peak service periods under pressure.
• Basic knowledge of inventory management, cost control, and supplier coordination to support efficient kitchen operations.
• Clear communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and management.

Work Environment
