About the Opportunity

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Construction Engineer Civil structures works (Ops Village) for a full-time position. This role supports the Construction Manager in the development and delivery of a new operational village within the Ar Rjum Project. The position is based in Saudi Arabia, near Taif, towards Riyadh, and focuses on ensuring construction activities meet scope, schedule, and quality requirements safely and efficiently.

Project Overview: The Ar Rjum Project

Bechtel has a long-standing history of delivering complex projects globally since 1898. The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold project situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh. This project includes three open pit mining operations, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and extensive supporting infrastructure such as water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and both temporary and permanent accommodation villages.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor performance of installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, and change management systems.
• Lead constructability reviews, optimizing construction sequencing, logistics, and methodology.
• Coordinate with engineering and design consultants to ensure construction requirements are reflected in design deliverables.
• Support the development of site layouts, temporary works strategies, logistics, and phasing plans for construction.
• Lead the development of overall construction execution plans, resource strategies, and resource estimates.
• Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to develop construction packaging and delivery strategies.
• Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) considerations are embedded in all aspects of design and planning.
• Review and monitor implementation of robust quality control plans during design and construction phases.
• Maintain awareness of design evolution, scope changes, and their potential impacts on construction methods, costs, and schedules.
• Coordinate with Construction Management on contract administration and activities affecting contract administration operation.
• Review project control documents for cost estimates, budgets, risk assessments, and review progress reporting for construction scope against these documents.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to assigned project and field personnel, promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.
• Establish a design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Field Engineers, including agreement on engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with design on constructability issues.
• Responsible for tracking and maintenance of required site permits and licenses.
• Ensure the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations.
• Process change order, requests for information, and field change documentation.
• Identify areas of risk and opportunity in contractor performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or international equivalent).
• 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
• A strong understanding of construction means, methods, and requirements.
• Experience reviewing Contractors’ submittals, work method statements, safety plans, quality plans, and traffic control plans for compliance with contract documents.
• Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.

• Previous, related, working experience in the Middle East is highly preferred.
• Past experience in the planning and implementation of a site accommodation camp is preferred.
