Role Overview

Lucid Motors is seeking an Automation Engineer - Powertrain Operations to join our team in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing PLC-based control systems across Powertrain manufacturing equipment. The role ensures stable machine operation, enables integration with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and plant networks, and provides advanced troubleshooting for electrical and control systems to support production uptime and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) interfaces for manufacturing equipment.
• Support commissioning and validation activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Diagnose and resolve PLC, I/O, network, and electrical faults across production systems.
• Maintain and update electrical control system architecture documentation, including schematics and program backups.
• Support integration between equipment PLCs and MES systems for data tracking and traceability.
• Implement control system improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
• Collaborate with Automation Engineering and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Ensure compliance with industrial electrical and safety standards.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates for this full-time role should possess 2-5 years of experience in automation engineering, specifically with PLC-based control systems within a manufacturing environment. Essential skills include proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and advanced troubleshooting of electrical and control systems. Experience supporting MES integration and maintaining comprehensive system documentation is also required.

This position requires active collaboration with various teams and external partners to ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement. Key collaborations include:

• Manufacturing Engineering for equipment design alignment and programming standards.
• Automation Engineers for system debugging and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintenance Technicians for day-to-day electrical troubleshooting and support.
• IT / MES Teams for industrial network connectivity and data integration.
• External Equipment Vendors for commissioning, debugging, and system sustainment.
