About WSP and the Role

WSP is seeking a dedicated HSE Officer to join our team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project, where the successful candidate will be responsible for upholding and enhancing health, safety, and environmental standards. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with WSP's HSEQ Management System, legal requirements, and client specifications, thereby contributing to a safe working environment for all personnel.

Role Overview

The HSE Officer plays a crucial part in managing and overseeing all health, safety, and environmental aspects of the project. This involves a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring the implementation of safety protocols, and fostering a culture of compliance. The role requires direct engagement with project teams, contractors, and clients to maintain high standards of safety performance and incident prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project in alignment with WSP HSEQ Management System requirements, ensuring personnel protection.
  • Oversee HSE Inspectors to monitor the implementation of health and safety measures at the project site level, adhering to legal and client requirements.
  • Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training programs for WSP employees, including induction and safe working practices.
  • Review and approve contractor’s health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements before work commencement.
  • Plan and conduct daily morning site visits across project sites to verify that health and safety measures are in place prior to work beginning.
  • Conduct weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring the closure of all corrective and preventive actions.
  • Organise and facilitate HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
  • Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are carried out according to the project schedule and performance standards.
  • Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports, verifying completion and closure of corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and provide technical guidance for accident protection.
  • Conduct regular site safety reviews to assess and improve safety performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 0-1 years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HSE management systems and site safety protocols.

Work Environment

This position is based in Jeddah, KSA, and involves working on a Property & Building Supervision Project. The role requires regular presence on project sites and collaboration with various stakeholders, including WSP teams, contractors, and clients.
