About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Manager Clinical Risk to join its team in Jeddah or Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to ensuring continuous improvement in healthcare delivery by managing, coordinating, and implementing quality, patient safety, clinical risk, accreditation, and clinical review initiatives. The Manager Clinical Risk will play a vital role in fostering a culture of quality and safety across the organization, working collaboratively with various functional areas to achieve institutional goals according to the institution's vision, mission, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously monitor quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical risk management programs in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate clinical and non-clinical risks to patients, caregivers, and staff across all healthcare services.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to implement and sustain clinical quality indicators and performance metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS), policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
  • Plan, conduct, and report on internal and external audits related to clinical quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and clinical governance.
  • Promote a just and transparent safety culture that encourages incident reporting, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and consolidate quality, patient safety, and clinical risk management reports for submission to relevant committees, leadership, and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage and oversee preparation for national and international accreditation programs (*, CBAHI, JCI, MOH Visits).
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver training programs on quality assessment and improvement methods, patient safety principles, risk management tools, and accreditation standards.

Patient Safety and Quality Management

This role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality. This includes promoting evidence-based practices to reduce adverse events, medical errors, and preventable harm, while supporting leadership in developing patient safety strategies and performance improvement plans. The Manager will fulfill the BCC Medical Quality scope of service and ensure quality and safe services are provided. Furthermore, the role involves participating in the review, update, and integration of QMS documentation to meet national and international healthcare standards.

Clinical Review and Audit Reporting

The Manager Clinical Risk will lead comprehensive clinical review processes, including audits of patient experience and satisfaction, as well as healthcare staff credentialing and personnel files. This involves analyzing audit findings, identifying gaps, and recommending corrective and preventive actions, followed by diligent follow-up on action plans. The role also requires coordinating event reporting, trend analysis, and policy or process revisions based on safety data and outcomes, and preparing dashboards, performance summaries, and analytical reports to support decision-making.

Safety Culture and Accreditation Readiness

A key function of this position is to manage and support the identification, investigation, and mitigation of patient and caregiver safety risks. This includes facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (HVA), and other risk assessment tools for new or redesigned services. The Manager will also oversee all aspects of accreditation preparation, including gap assessments, staff readiness, survey coordination, and post-survey action plans, ensuring sustained compliance with accreditation standards and continuous readiness. Communication with the Saudi Patient Safety Center for patient safety culture surveys, analysis, and actions is also a core duty.

Required Experience

Candidates for the Manager Clinical Risk position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in managing quality, patient safety, clinical risk, and accreditation initiatives within a healthcare setting. A strong understanding of healthcare regulations, quality management systems, and patient safety methodologies is essential for success in this role, alongside the ability to support awareness campaigns and continuous education activities to embed quality and safety principles into daily clinical practice.
