Role Overview

Avensys Consulting is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to support its operations. This role requires an experienced DBA with significant hands-on expertise in both Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, and comprehensive support of mission-critical production databases, ensuring high availability and robust disaster recovery capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Perform database administration activities including managing users, roles, privileges, tablespaces, datafiles, schemas, indexes, and database objects.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform SQL/query and database performance tuning.
• Manage Oracle RMAN backup/recovery, Data Pump (expdp/impdp), and SQL Server backup and restore operations.
• Implement and support Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, and Database Mirroring.
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, refreshes, cloning, and environment synchronization.
• Monitor database health, capacity, storage, sessions, locks, jobs, and alerts; proactively resolve issues.
• Handle production incidents, root-cause analysis, problem management, and change activities in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Implement database security, access controls, auditing, and compliance standards.
• Develop and maintain database monitoring, maintenance, backup, and recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, development, and cloud teams to resolve database-related issues.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery runbooks.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on DBA experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in both Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Demonstrated experience in production support, performance tuning, backup/recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, database upgrades, and database security.
• Ability to effectively support mission-critical production databases.

Work Location and Type

This is a contract position located in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
