About the Senior Risk Officer Role

Hyundai Motor Company is seeking a Senior Risk Officer to join its team in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires a professional with 5 to 10 years of experience in risk management. The role is central to supporting the delivery of the company’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program through the hands-on execution of risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting activities.

Key Risk Management Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute risk identification and assessment activities, facilitating or co-facilitating risk workshops with risk owners.
  • Document risks, causes, consequences, and controls, applying the company’s risk scoring methodology consistently.
  • Conduct assigned deep-dive assessments and scenario analysis on specific risk areas such as supply chain, project delivery, or compliance.
  • Act as day-to-day custodian of the enterprise risk register, ensuring entries are complete, accurate, current, and properly owned.
  • Maintain and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), collecting data, tracking thresholds, and flagging breaches or adverse trends to the Risk Manager.
  • Perform ongoing horizon scanning to identify emerging risks for escalation.
  • Track risk treatment and mitigation action plans, following up with action owners, challenging revised due dates, and escalating overdue actions.
  • Prepare draft risk reports, heat maps, KRI dashboards, and Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) materials for review.
  • Support the Business Continuity Management (BCM) program (ISO 22301), including business impact analysis, plan maintenance, and continuity test coordination.
  • Support the coordination of the corporate insurance program, helping to maintain asset/exposure data and liaising with the Risk Manager and brokers.
  • Support the delivery of risk training and awareness activities to embed risk ownership in the first line.

Collaboration and Program Support

  • Support the Risk Manager in the day-to-day delivery of the ERM program and may guide or review the work of junior staff, contractors, or interns.
  • Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to first-line risk owners and workshop participants.
  • Proactively propose practical improvements to risk processes and tools and support assigned strategic initiatives.
  • Positively advocate for change and a strong risk culture across the Company.
  • Work across functions, including Internal Audit, Compliance, HSE, Finance, and Project/Operations, to gather risk information and support a coordinated assurance approach.
  • Build and develop working relationships with risk owners across the business and externally to enable effective sharing of risk information.
  • Share knowledge and good practice within the Risk Team to enhance collective capability.

Operational Compliance and Reporting

  • Operate within the Risk Function’s expense budget, agreeing any variation, including travel and consultant costs, with the Risk Manager in advance.
  • Perform all activities in line with the ERM Policy, methodology, and the Company’s Delegation of Authority.
  • Execute assigned risk assessments and engagements within the ERM plan, applying the approved methodology.
  • Support the consolidation of risk information into enterprise-level themes.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in enterprise risk management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute hands-on risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting activities.
  • Proven capability in maintaining risk registers, Key Risk Indicators, and tracking risk treatment plans.
  • Strong analytical skills to conduct deep-dive assessments and scenario analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and knowledge transfer across various functions.
  • Ability to work autonomously on assigned tasks while also supporting and guiding junior team members.

Reporting and Work Environment

This full-time position is based at Hyundai Motor Company's operations in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The Senior Risk Officer reports directly to the Risk Manager, referring strategic and critical matters for approval and guidance from the Risk Manager or Head of Audit & Risk.
