About the Role

Mars is seeking a Material Handler to join their factory team in Makkah, specifically in King Abdullah Economic City. This full-time, shift-based position is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and handling of materials within the warehouse and production lines/staging areas. The role involves coordinating with other material handlers, managing inventory, and collaborating with various departments and external warehouses to ensure timely and accurate material flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate all Material Handling Equipment (MHEs) in designated areas (warehouse and production) in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to all required safety regulations and complete necessary training.
  • Escalate safety incidents or potential serious incidents (PSIF) and ensure effective closure for all SIF/PSIF in the assigned area.
  • Adhere to emergency team rules and procedures.
  • Verify that all raw and packaging materials (R&P) match Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) specifications and perform visual inspections as appropriate.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) in all operational areas, maintaining 5S standards and floor demarcation.
  • Perform periodic inspections of MHE batteries, cables, and charging extensions.
  • Verify that all cleaning activities in the warehouse area are completed according to the master cleaning plan.
  • Escalate any material-related abnormalities to the production team leader or SPT.
  • Escalate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to the Q&FS team, raise them in the NEXUS system, and ensure effective closure and collaboration with the Q&FS team.
  • Coordinate trip schedules and material call-off status with external warehouses.
  • Review daily/weekly production plans and follow up on changes during the shift.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for goods inbound and outbound operations.
  • Coordinate work with material handlers in other shifts to ensure proper information flow regarding materials and finished goods (FG).
  • Assign tasks to MHE operators and material handlers for inbound, outbound, and material movements between the warehouse and production lines.
  • Escalate deviations in inventory and stock levels to the production team leader or SPT.
  • Utilize PDLS for daily movements of R&P and FG.
  • Ensure First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles are followed for R&P and FG, and manage FIFO pallet visualization.
  • Return materials and ensure physical quantities match the system (SAP).
  • Perform weekly, periodical, and yearly inventory counts, and carry out period-closing tasks and reporting.
  • Prepare NQC reports for weekly reviews.
  • Collaborate with peers and other material handlers to control inventory and stock levels, and correct deviations on the spot.
  • Perform traceability exercises for all materials and FG when required.
  • Resolve SAP system errors on a daily basis.
  • Ensure daily and shift issues are escalated properly using the Factory Management Operating System (FMOS) cycle.
  • Attend shift handovers and convey information to area contractors.
  • Attend CP0/CP2 meetings and escalate deviations.
  • Participate in problem-solving meetings related to materials management and warehouse operations.
  • Ensure waste is segregated properly and moved to designated areas following safety team regulations.
  • Coordinate truck loading/unloading and ensure FG dispatches are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accurate records of material movement, inventory levels, and safety inspections, preparing reports for management and regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with other departments, including logistics, production, and quality control, to ensure smooth material flow and resolve issues.
  • Manage assigned area consumables and drive usage reduction.
  • Support sustainability initiatives within the factory.
  • Participate in Mars Supply Excellence (MSE) and continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events and Value Loss (VL) workshops.

Team Contribution

  • Contribute to the achievement of targets as part of a shift team of up to 15 associates.
  • Be accountable for the performance of several activities and processes, and for safety and quality standards in the warehouse.
  • Escalate issues as appropriate and provide full and accurate verbal and written handovers.
  • Resolve system issues using trained knowledge and experience.
