About the Senior Associate - Master Planning Role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Associate for Master Planning to join our team. We are a global infrastructure consulting firm dedicated to delivering a better world by solving complex challenges and building legacies for future generations. This full-time position is based in Jeddah and Makkah.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialized architectural guidance, conducting calculations, analysis, studies, and offering recommendations within the architectural discipline. You will manage teams of architects, designers, and specialists, fostering a collaborative environment. A key aspect of this position involves assisting Project Architectural or Engineering Managers with complex initiatives and providing essential technical expertise. You will oversee project delivery, ensuring adherence to design standards, quality benchmarks, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases. Additionally, you will manage project budgets and resources effectively, track expenditures, and optimize resource allocation for maximum project efficiency. Conducting design reviews and quality assurance assessments to ensure technical excellence and compliance with architectural standards and best practices will also be a core duty. You will also contribute to strategic planning and recommend process improvements within the design discipline.

Team Leadership and Development

A significant part of this role involves managing various size groups of architects, designers, and specialists. You will be instrumental in developing and mentoring team members, providing constructive feedback, and identifying opportunities for their professional growth and skill advancement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and client stakeholders, is essential to align design solutions with project objectives and constraints.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in architectural design, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Demonstrated expertise in architectural design principles, building systems, and construction methodologies.
• Proven experience managing and mentoring diverse teams of architects, designers, and technical specialists.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (*, ADA, IBC, local zoning regulations).
• Proficiency with industry-standard design software and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
• Excellent project management skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex design concepts to stakeholders.
• Experience conducting design reviews and quality assurance assessments.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and client representatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field.
• Professional Architecture License (RA/AIA) or equivalent credential.
• Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED certification.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
• Background in strategic planning and process improvement initiatives.
• Experience in mentoring junior staff and developing talent within design disciplines.
• Knowledge of emerging design technologies and innovation trends in the architectural industry.
