Engineer Geotechnical

About the Role

Maaden is seeking an Engineer Geotechnical to join its team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to supporting geotechnical engineering activities within mining operations. The role involves conducting field investigations, collecting and testing geotechnical data, and contributing to analysis and design, with a focus on managing ground conditions, hazards, and risks effectively.

Field Investigations and Data Management

The Engineer Geotechnical will execute and oversee critical field activities and ensure the accuracy of collected data. Responsibilities include:

• Conducting field investigations and surveys, including geological mapping, soil sampling, rock core logging, and groundwater monitoring, to assess ground conditions and identify potential hazards and risks.
• Performing in-situ and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples using specialized equipment and techniques to determine geotechnical properties and behavior.
• Maintaining and calibrating geotechnical equipment and instrumentation to provide accurate and reliable monitoring data.

Geotechnical Analysis and Engineering Support

This role requires strong analytical skills to interpret complex geotechnical data and provide actionable engineering recommendations. Key tasks include:

• Analyzing and interpreting geotechnical data, including slope stability, rock mass characterization, and groundwater modeling, and contributing to design recommendations and risk assessments.
• Providing technical support for slope stability assessments, foundation design, mine waste management, ground control measures, and the development of mitigation solutions.
• Preparing geotechnical reports, technical documents, presentations, figures, charts, and diagrams to communicate findings and recommendations.

Collaboration, Safety, and Professional Development

The Engineer Geotechnical will work closely with various teams and uphold high standards of safety and professional development. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with geotechnical engineers, mining engineers, and environmental specialists to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine planning, design, and operations.
• Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines in all geotechnical activities.
• Providing training and mentorship to junior technicians, interns, and field assistants on geotechnical techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Maintaining awareness of industry practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the continuous improvement of geotechnical processes and standards.

Required Experience

A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering is required for this full-time position.
