About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Patient Services Technician I (Deceased Services) to join its team. This full-time role acts as a senior operational resource within the morgue, responsible for managing complex cases, coordinating specialized procedures, and ensuring service continuity. The technician plays a critical role in upholding proper documentation, policy compliance, and the respectful handling of deceased bodies, while also providing guidance to junior staff and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform morgue operations with minimal supervision, acting as the senior front-line resource for operational issues.
• Manage complex morgue cases and service exceptions within assigned authority.
• Oversee the receiving, handling, storage, and documentation of deceased bodies in strict accordance with approved hospital policies and procedures.
• Ensure the washing and preparation of deceased Muslim patients, including infected cases, are conducted in full compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and cultural requirements.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job support to Morgue Officer II and III staff.

Operational Duties and Coordination

• Participate in 24-hour service coverage as required by departmental operational needs.
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of all morgue records, logs, and documentation.
• Coordinate with Forensic Medicine at Al-Shumaisi to complete legal and administrative procedures for embalming and repatriation (air transportation) of deceased bodies, adhering to approved regulations and relevant authorities.
• Coordinate operationally with hospital units, Security, and Infection Control to ensure seamless service continuity.
• Support routine body release processes, ensuring all policy requirements are met prior to release.
• Support emergency and disaster response activities, including extended service coverage when necessary.

Compliance and Professional Conduct

• Ensure strict adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) requirements and promptly escalate any safety concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and respectful handling of all deceased individuals at all times.
• Access, view, and use patient/deceased information strictly on a need-to-know basis and solely for legitimate work-related purposes, in accordance with hospital policies and authorized system access.
• Identify recurring issues or risks and escalate them to management with recommendations for resolution.
• Respect patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
• Participate in and support quality improvement and patient safety activities, either individually or as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma.
• A minimum of 1+ years of relevant experience.
