The Opportunity

As Salla continues to scale its logistics and shipping operations, we are seeking a dedicated Accountant (Shipping or Logistic) to join our Finance team. This full-time role is critical for ensuring accurate financial oversight within our logistics framework.

Role Summary

The Accountant – Logistics will be responsible for precise accounting, reconciliation, and reporting across all logistics operations. This includes managing revenue and costs, handling billing and collections, processing merchant compensations, and maintaining robust financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Management: Accurately calculate logistics-related revenues, track financial performance metrics, reconcile revenues against invoices, manage deferred revenue in compliance with IFRS, and investigate significant fluctuations in revenue, costs, volumes, and margins.
  • Cost Management: Reconcile vendor and logistics partner invoices against internal operational records (*, AWBs and shipping rates), process Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and direct shipping cost entries, identify potential revenue leakage, excess vendor charges, or incorrect pricing, and ensure timely and accurate payments to logistics vendors and shipping partners.
  • Reporting & Financial Reconciliation: Prepare periodic reconciliations for all logistics transactions, shipping gateways, and clearing accounts. Generate analytical reports on billing, collections, logistics margins, and revenue analysis. Maintain audit-ready financial records compliant with accounting standards, respond to auditors' requirements, contribute to Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting, support monthly variance analysis, and ensure strict adherence to compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Process Optimization & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proactively evaluate, optimize, and streamline shipping and logistics accounting workflows. Collaborate with Operations, Product, and Account Management teams to resolve pending requests, unmapped transactions, and operational bottlenecks.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance experience, with a preference for experience within logistics, shipping, or e-commerce sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with revenue and cost accounting, vendor invoice reconciliation, COGS, and comprehensive financial reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting month-end closing processes, variance analysis, and financial reporting.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of IFRS, including revenue recognition, accruals, and deferred revenue.
  • Understanding of shipping and logistics transactions, including Air Waybills (AWBs), shipping rates, vendor billing, and shipping margin analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and practical experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify financial discrepancies, revenue leakage, and incorrect charges.
  • High attention to detail and capability to work accurately with high-volume transactional data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving processes, priorities, and workflows in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, or similar data-analysis tools is considered a plus.
