About the Role

Systems Limited is seeking an AI Governance Specialist to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on ensuring the trustworthiness and compliance of AI systems through the implementation of governance frameworks, model risk assessment, and regulatory adherence. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Role Overview

The AI Governance Specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining governance frameworks that prevent legal and reputational issues related to AI system delivery. This involves conducting thorough risk assessments and ensuring compliance with relevant AI regulations and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI governance frameworks and policies for client engagements.
• Conduct model risk assessments and responsible-AI reviews prior to production deployment.
• Manage AI regulatory implementation, mapping engagement requirements to regulations such as the EU AI Act and sector-specific rules.
• Design and execute AI red-teaming exercises for high-risk systems.
• Establish AI testing and evaluation standards from a governance and ethics perspective, covering bias, fairness, explainability, and AI ethics.
• Advise practice leads and Architects on governance risks during the solution design phase.
• Facilitate cross-functional governance reviews involving legal, technical, and business stakeholders.
• Exercise judgment to delay launches when risk assessment warrants it, even under commercial pressure.
• Train delivery teams on responsible-AI practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 6–12+ years of experience in AI governance, model risk, compliance, or responsible-AI roles.
• Working knowledge of AI regulation, including the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, and sector-specific frameworks, with the ability to operationalize them.
• Technical proficiency to critically assess model cards or evaluation reports.
• Familiarity with bias/fairness testing methodologies and explainability tooling.
• Familiarity with platform-native AI safety/governance tooling such as Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety, AWS Bedrock Guardrails, and Google Vertex AI safety filters. Experience with open-source evaluation tooling (Giskard, DeepEval) is a plus.
• Experience in designing red-team protocols for AI systems.
• Strong written policy and framework authorship skills, capable of producing documents trusted by both legal and technical teams.
• Ability to facilitate cross-functional governance reviews across legal, technical, and business stakeholders.
• Diplomatic yet firm approach, capable of upholding risk standards without becoming an obstructionist.
