About the Role

Mashreq is seeking an Associate Director for Corporate Origination and Business Development in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to expanding Mashreq Bank's presence in the region by originating new corporate deals and overseeing cross-border exposure. The position focuses on identifying and onboarding Saudi-based corporate groups with operations across Mashreq’s footprint countries, as well as pursuing outbound business opportunities that align with the bank's strategic objectives.

Role Purpose and Coordination

The Associate Director will coordinate across various business units to ensure Mashreq’s services meet the requirements of Saudi clients while adhering to regulatory and risk management standards. This involves developing a strong pipeline and ensuring the Saudi Arabia framework remains aligned with evolving market conditions and regulatory changes. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams to deliver comprehensive solutions and maintain a unified approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the origination of new-to-bank corporate relationships in Saudi Arabia, identifying growth opportunities, structuring financing solutions, and onboarding clients to increase market share.
  • Coordinate with the Enterprise Risk Management team to manage Mashreq’s cross-border exposure to Saudi Arabia, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and internal policies.
  • Act as the central coordinator for the Saudi Arabia portfolio, facilitating collaboration across departments such as Corporate Banking, Risk, Compliance, and Treasury.
  • Maintain and refine the Saudi Arabia framework, ensuring it reflects market developments, regulatory changes, and business goals, and secure necessary approvals.
  • Drive the growth of Mashreq’s asset book in Saudi Arabia by expanding the portfolio across various sectors and products, focusing on revenue generation.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with Mashreq’s risk appetite and approved framework, collaborating with the Credit Management & Control Unit for due diligence and approvals.
  • Provide strategic insights on market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes in Saudi Arabia to inform long-term business strategies.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on the performance of the Saudi Arabia portfolio, cross-border exposure, and ongoing transactions.
  • Collaborate daily with internal teams across various functions, including Corporate Banking, Risk, Treasury, Legal, Operations, and Compliance, to ensure efficient client transaction execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, origination, or business development.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and onboard new corporate clients.
  • Experience in managing cross-border exposure and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and credit quality standards.
