About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking an Asst Manager Recreation for a full-time position. This role involves assisting with the management of pool and beach areas, including overall maintenance, daily upkeep, cleanliness, and the operation of cabana units. The Asst Manager Recreation is responsible for modeling service behavior to guests and employees, continually striving to enhance satisfaction and maximize financial performance within their areas of responsibility. This position works with direct reports to implement departmental strategies.

Key Responsibilities in Recreation Operations

The Asst Manager Recreation will oversee daily operations and ensure high standards are maintained across various recreational activities and facilities. Key duties include:

• Supervising and managing employees, supporting day-to-day operations, and performing duties in employees' absence when necessary.
• Monitoring quality and standards to meet customer expectations daily.
• Demonstrating knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.
• Scheduling events, programs, activities, and employee work.
• Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to coworkers and customers as needed.
• Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
• Supporting the management of outside vendors, including those for water sports and scuba activities.
• Assisting with the management of group activities such as sand painting, bonfires, and team-building events.
• Ordering and managing necessary supplies, ensuring staff have the required equipment, tools, and uniforms.
• Assisting with the management of the children's program, including coordinating activities and purchasing equipment and supplies.
• Assisting with the overall maintenance, daily upkeep, cleanliness, and operation of pool and beach areas, including cabana units.

Guest Service and Team Development

This role emphasizes delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a supportive team environment. Responsibilities include:

• Serving as a role model for appropriate service behaviors and providing services that exceed customer satisfaction and retention goals.
• Improving service by communicating guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching to team members.
• Identifying developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or assisting them to improve knowledge and skills.
• Participating in the performance appraisal system, providing feedback as required.
• Coordinating training activities for employees within the department.
• Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Communicating expectations and performance objectives to subordinates, while also being open to their questions and concerns.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:

• A high school diploma or GED, combined with at least 1 year of experience in recreation or health club operations, or a related professional area.
• Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, with no prior work experience required.
