AsstMgr Security/Loss Prevention

About the Role

Marriott International is seeking an Assistant Manager, Security/Loss Prevention, for a full-time position in Medina. This role involves assisting in the daily management of the department to ensure the protection of property assets, employees, guests, and the property itself. The Assistant Manager will maintain necessary logs, certifications, and documents, and support staff training in emergency procedures and prevention efforts. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities in Security and Loss Prevention

• Assist in conducting hazard and risk assessments, including quarterly OSHA/SAFETY audits, incident tracking, and the hazard abatement process.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations.
• Maintain all required logs, certifications, and documents according to legal and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Supervise and review initial incident investigations, promoting timely responses to all reported incidents.
• Adhere to proper key control guidelines for loss prevention and property security.
• Support the promotion and implementation of accident and fire prevention procedures.
• Conduct patrols encompassing all interior and exterior areas of the property, including inspection tours of recording systems.
• Follow up on unusual activities that could impact the well-being of guests and employees.
• Handle complaints, settle disputes, resolve grievances, and negotiate conflicts.
• Promote action plans to monitor and control risk.
• Oversee all loss prevention operations, including patrol processes, emergency response, investigations, shipping and receiving, electronic key systems, and manager-on-duty responsibilities.
• Assist with the first aid program for guests and employees.
• Support the claims process and protect company assets by monitoring General Liability and Worker's Compensation cases.
• Collaborate with Meeting Planners to ensure a successful and safe experience for guests.

Human Resources Management

• Participate in interviewing, selecting, and training employees.
• Appraise employee productivity and efficiency to recommend promotions or other status changes.
• Ensure the safety and security of employees and the property.
• Monitor employee attendance and record absences/tardiness.
• Support direct supervisors in achieving their development goals.
• Conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Customer Service Excellence

• Meet quality standards and customer expectations daily.
• Identify educational needs, develop formal training programs, and instruct others.
• Inspect and critique the performance of the loss prevention department to maintain professionalism and customer service.
• Provide services that exceed customer expectations for satisfaction and retention.

Additional Responsibilities

• Analyze information and evaluate results to choose optimal solutions and solve problems.
• Develop liaison relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services.
• Inform and update executives, peers, and subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner.
• Provide information to supervisors and co-workers via telephone, written form, email, or in person.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in security or loss prevention roles, preferably within the hospitality sector. The ability to manage daily departmental functions, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and maintain accurate documentation is essential. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required to manage incidents, resolve conflicts, and foster guest and employee satisfaction.
