This role is based in Saudi Arabia, supporting the Ar Rjum Project, a greenfield gold project located in the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh, and 26 km south of Al Mouwayh. The project encompasses three open-pit mining operations, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and essential supporting infrastructure.

The Role of Field Welding Engineer

As a Field Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for leading, implementing, and maintaining global construction field welding programs. This full-time position involves providing specialized welding engineering support to ensure compliance with all relevant codes, client/engineering specifications, and Bechtel's internal procedures and standards. A key aspect of the role includes managing, inspecting, and monitoring the welding test lab, rod room, weld heat treatment program, and the overall laboratory quality plan. You will also provide critical technical advice for rectifying defects and issues prior to final inspection.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Bechtel Field Welding program, potentially serving as Lead Field Welding Engineer on large-scale projects.
• Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction activities comply with all code, client/engineering specifications, and Bechtel procedures.
• Assist in the management of pre- and post-weld heat treatment programs.
• Support the management of weld filler material issuance to welders, ensuring adherence to Bechtel and Code requirements.
• Contribute to planning Nondestructive Examination (NDE) activities for welding and coordinate with construction to support project schedules.
• Monitor welding qualification processes to ensure the testing and hiring of high-quality welders.
• Maintain welder qualifications and welder stamps.
• Offer assistance to discipline superintendents regarding pre/post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) welding and NDE.
• Support and maintain the Project Field Welder Testing program.
• Perform continuous inspections and documentation of all welding, NDE, and pre/PWHT activities.

Additional Responsibilities for NDE Level III Certification

Candidates holding an NDE Level III certification will undertake additional responsibilities, including:

• Maintaining and implementing Bechtel’s Nondestructive Examination Qualification and Certification of NDE personnel (NEPQ).
• Implementing Bechtel’s Welding Program in alignment with the requirements of various Global Business Units (GBUs).
• Preparing, developing, and qualifying NDE procedures, including specialized NDE procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant field engineering or welding role.
• Possess working knowledge of pre/post-weld heat treatment (PHT-2) and other welding procedures and standards.
• Ability to provide specialized welding engineering support and ensure compliance with industry codes and specifications.
• Experience in managing and monitoring welding test labs, rod rooms, and quality plans.
• NDE Level III certification is an additional requirement for specific responsibilities related to Nondestructive Examination qualification and procedure development.

Project Location

This full-time position is based at the Ar Rjum Project site in the Central Arabian Gold Region, Saudi Arabia. The project location requires on-site presence to manage and oversee welding operations and related activities.
