About Obeikan Glass and the Role

Obeikan Glass Company is seeking a Furnace Operator to join its Float Glass Production team. This full-time position is based in Yanbu Al Sinaiyah, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia, specifically in Yanbu. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring the float glass furnace to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production while maintaining optimal furnace conditions and product quality.

Role Summary

The Furnace Operator plays a critical role in the float glass manufacturing process. This position involves continuous monitoring and control of furnace operations to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to safety standards. The operator will work with DCS-controlled systems and perform routine inspections and maintenance activities within the production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the float glass furnace to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production.
• Monitor and control furnace operating parameters, including temperature, pressure, gas emissions, glass level, natural gas firing, reversal, and associated DCS process indicators.
• Adjust furnace controls to maintain optimal operating conditions and consistent product quality.
• Conduct routine field inspections, identify abnormalities, and promptly report equipment or process issues.
• Respond effectively to operational incidents and follow established emergency procedures.
• Perform basic autonomous maintenance activities and support both planned and unplanned maintenance interventions.
• Accurately record operating data, furnace parameters, and shift activities while ensuring effective shift handovers.
• Adhere to company Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), quality, and 5S standards, reporting near misses and unsafe conditions.
• Collaborate with shift teams to achieve production, quality, and operational performance targets.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Furnace Operator in a Float Glass Manufacturing plant.

Required Skills and Attributes

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in furnace operations and proficiency with DCS-controlled systems. Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to operational incidents are essential. A commitment to Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), quality, and 5S standards is also required, along with effective collaboration within shift teams.
