About Ma'aden and the Role

Ma'aden, established in 1997, is recognized as one of the fastest-growing mining companies globally and the largest multi-commodity mining and metals company in the Middle East. The company plays a significant role in developing the mining industry to become a key pillar of Saudi Arabia’s economy by building a world-class, integrated mining value chain. This role for a Principal Specialist, Licensing & Tenement Management, contributes to Ma'aden's growth objectives and the future of mining in the Kingdom. The position involves managing and developing exploration licensing application and granting processes, alongside supervising tenement database systems to ensure all license obligations and legislative requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and oversee end-to-end licensing processes for Ma'aden, including identifying and obtaining necessary licenses, permits, or rights for exploration activities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Supervise regulatory administration for all reconnaissance and exploration licenses, ensuring adherence to Saudi Arabian exploration and mining laws.
Manage and advance record-keeping practices to ensure regulatory compliance with licensing terms and conditions.
Facilitate the development of Exploration and Resource Development (ERD) by strengthening the administration and management of mineral rights and contributing to geological knowledge across ERD and the company.
Manage the development and collaboration with the Corporate Affairs department and respective ERD teams to enhance stakeholder engagement relationships, translating stakeholder needs into organizational goals.
Prepare responses to Government inquiries related to mining to effectively manage Government relations.
Prepare and present regular and ad-hoc reports to the Director, offering recommendations on new opportunities, highlighting critical issues and challenges, and providing strategic insight for decision-making.
Review and collaborate with ERD Operations on developing the ERD strategy to ensure its fulfillment and oversee the translation of Ma’aden’s strategy into workable scenarios for ERD operations.
Manage, select, update, and drive the overall ERD portfolio of licenses, collaborating with other ERD departments in mineral resource estimation, prioritizing actions, and managing stakeholders to optimize return on investment.
Drive the implementation of appropriate new systems and approaches to enhance ERD Licensing and Tenement Management operations and processes.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Geospatial, or a similar field.
More than 10 years of experience in license management or tenement management, preferably within the Metals Mining industry.
More than 5 years of managerial-level experience in similar roles.
