Scientific Editor: Medical Physics at Cactus Communications

Cactus Communications is seeking a Scientific Editor specializing in Medical Physics to join its global team. This contract position is based in Abha, 'Asir, and focuses on enhancing the clarity and accuracy of scientific research manuscripts for publication.

Role Overview

As a Scientific Editor, you will leverage your subject-matter expertise to evaluate and refine research manuscripts. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure scientific accuracy and discipline-specific clarity, while also improving the overall quality of the language. This role supports researchers globally in publishing cutting-edge research in prestigious journals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and edit manuscripts to improve the clarity, coherence, and readability of scientific content while preserving the authors’ intended meaning.
  • Ensure that subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience.
  • Improve the presentation of complex research findings to enhance their communication and publication readiness.
  • Edit manuscripts such that the final text meets the highest standards of academic writing, is free of unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences. Adhere to job-specific guidelines and format manuscripts according to the target journal when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A PhD degree in Nuclear Medicine or Medical Physics (mandatory).
  • Strong publication record, with 5–10 or more first-author publications (mandatory).
  • Prior peer review experience.
  • Ability to critically assess study design, methodology, statistics, and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
  • Excellent written English and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is preferred.
