Director of Engineering

About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Director of Engineering for The Ritz-Carlton Diriyah, located in Riyadh and Ad Dir'iyah. This full-time role involves leading the engineering, maintenance, facilities management, and asset protection functions for the property. The Director of Engineering will ensure the physical assets operate to high standards of safety, reliability, sustainability, and luxury, contributing to guest experiences and the long-term value of the asset.

Context of the Property

The Ritz-Carlton Diriyah is situated within the historic area of Diriyah. This property combines cultural heritage with architectural design and contemporary luxury, aiming to establish new standards for service and operational excellence in the region. The Director of Engineering will play a role in maintaining the infrastructure that supports this luxury hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring reliability, safety, and operational excellence.
• Develop and implement an engineering strategy aligned with hotel objectives, brand standards, and owner priorities.
• Manage departmental budgets, capital expenditure projects, and long-term asset protection plans.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programs for all building systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical infrastructure.
• Champion sustainability and energy conservation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, health, safety, environmental, and life safety requirements.
• Build, mentor, and develop the engineering team through coaching, development, recognition, and succession planning.
• Establish relationships with ownership representatives, contractors, consultants, and regional engineering leaders.

Candidate Profile

• Proven leadership experience within luxury hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, or complex hospitality environments.
• Strong technical expertise across engineering operations, facilities management, preventative maintenance, and asset lifecycle planning.
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, capital projects, service contracts, and operational efficiencies.
• Commitment to creating safe, sustainable, and functional environments for guests and associates.
• Experience leading emergency preparedness and life safety programs within large-scale facilities.
